Export

With the Photoshop document I exported it as a jpg because the quality is better and jgp is mostly for photos to retain its quality at a lower size than png.  I also exported my illustrator as jpg because thats what I know most and my images won't like loose there quality. There are a lot smoother around the edges and take up less space.

MY trailer is exported as 720 because its hd and great quality to watch whether watching it's on a mobile phone, Tv, computer or any other device and it won't lost it quality.

Trailer

The reason why I chose to put a transition on every clipped frame was because when it was leave fro one frame to another the transition wasn't smooth. For me they worked well and I was happy with the outcome.

I used the iris round transition here because it well perfectly with the timing of the of me placing the chicken in the pan to when it started frying. With this it contrasted the frame well.

The only effect I used was the warp stabilizer because I had done my own filming the camera was shaking a lot and the warp stabilizer reduce the shaking to the point where it's not noticeable.

I didn't use much audio apart a short piece at the beginning of the trailer and it started at the title page and faded out just as the video start playing. I used exponential fade which is a audio transition.  It is also on the ending on my trailer the audio fades in and out.

Here's a list of all the video transitions I used.

  • Gradient wipe
  • Exponential fade
  • Film dissolve
  • Additive dissolve
  • Film dissolve
  • Film dissolve
  • spiral boxes
  • Film dissolve
  • Insert
  • Band wipe
  • Exponential fade
  • Dip to white
I chose each transition but mostly because I played around with each one ad saw what that worked well on each from.

Images & Text

The image above shows where I use the text on video feature, I had to play around with the text to get it the position and color that work best with the video but also still be clear and big enough to see.

Another example of text on video is the image blew where it shows that the chicken is in the process of frying.

Creating The Trailer

I clipped different parts of each video to use on my trailer. The first frame is me showing the seasoned chicken, flour and oil. When I have all the frames that I wanted to use on my sequence, it was time for me to string editing it. I added a title at the beginning, so that I was clear what they was watching and what I was cooking. It made sense, then to go straight into the cooking with any introduction or insight of what was happening. Text was added to two frames at the beginning stating what some of the ingredients are. To get the exact clip i need from my videos I used the mark in , mark out tool to choose what part I need.

On every frame that I had clipped and place together there was a video transition. In total I used around 12 transition but some the was the same.

Gradient wipe was the first transition I used to wipe my title image to the start of my trailer. On the top left hand corner is where the gradient starts as you seen from the image above.

Recording Videos

I used my iPhone to record myself cooking fry chicken. Originally my idea was to do mini clips of different dishes but then I realize that it was impossible to do. So instead I stuck to one simple thing that I could show in different progress stage of cooking. I record the cooking process in different clips rather then doing one long video, that would have taken up too much space. I had around 7 different clips that I could to make my trailer.

Finish Disc

To achieve the end product I first thicken the stroke point on the largest circle to 2, this circle is the bleeding edge any thing placed on it would be cut off. Once that was completed i then moved on to using the text tool to type 'Moya's Kitchen'. At first moya's kitchen was on 1 straight line but then i did some research online and realize that it would better if i had my text on two separate lines. Once i done it I found that it worked best, because having all on one line made it look too squashed up together.

The font is the same font that I've used on the DVD cover and my logo. The font work well because it was fancy but not too fancy and complement everything else around it without drawing attention away from the main focus point.

For the copy right warning around the edge of the label, I had to create and circle because it wouldn't allow me to type on the path of a clipping mask path. The circle had to be the same exact size so that I place it around the clipping mask, you wouldn't be able to tell that there's if fact to circle.

I then selected the type on path tool so that i was able to type my text on the path. Once I typed the text i had to changed the font to 'Calibri' bold and size to 6pt. Originally I did want to use  'Edwardian Script ITC' but the thing is that it wasn't clear to see and look horrible. there was no way I was keeping the font for this part of the text.

Everything is on a different  layer, its a lot easier to work with everything a different layers because you can always hide something you not really sure about until you find a place it instead of deleting it.

I played around with the images until I got them in a position that worked and I was happy with. When i was happy with it all I grouped them all together so I could move them around as one.

Disc Stage 2

So once I had clipped mask the image I then place it back into the center on the first circle. Then from there I once again got the Ellipse tool and this time i created a father 3 smaller circles all placed and center in each other. Then with the two slight bigger circle I use the transparency panel and changed the opacity to 45%, this was to show that in real life I wanted that part to transparent when cut out into an actual DVD disc. The smallest circle in the center if fulled to black because that would be cut out to fit into a disc case. Basically it's where your fingers go when holding a disc.
